Honorable Mention in the Competition for a Monument “100th Anniversary of Independence”

Stargard, Poland
2018

The main idea of the project for the patriotic monument is to represent, in an abstract, symbolic and modern way, a strong and ambitious image of contemporary, independent Poland. The monument, with its colors and spatial form, refers to the national flag – white and red – proudly outstretched and waving in the wind.

The effect of dynamics and resilience, which can be related to the contemporary development of Poland, is compounded by a reference to the form outlined in space by the ballerina’s ribbon, poetically frozen just above the square. The spatial complication of the ribbon is also an allegory to the complexity of Polish history, which we observe from the beginning of the history.
